Do you ever get so excited to tell someone a story about something you’re so passionate about but the excitement gets in the way and you can’t seem to form a solid thought or say a sentence that even remotely makes sense? That is how I feel about the MacKenzie Childs Fall collection, their overall products, and everything they stand for in general. Spending a few days in Aurora, NY with the MacKenzie-Childs team really opened up my eyes to see what truly a life-changing company they are.

I was first introduced to MacKenzie Childs when I worked for Neiman Marcus during college. We had an entire section dedicated to all of their beautiful pieces that I would always walk by and admire any chance I had. Of course, there was absolutely no way I could afford any of those pieces being a starving college student who was only working part time. The holidays were coming up and I decided I was going to splurge on myself and buy one single MacKenzie-Childs Christmas ornament. That was over 15 years ago and I still cherish that ornament to this day.

Since then I always had a love for MacKenzie-Childs. I knew their products were handcrafted but never knew the amount of detail that went into each and every piece. A little over a month ago I was invited on a trip to visit their headquarters in Aurora, NY where we would get to see how each and every MacKenzie-Childs product is made from conception to final production. To say I was excited was an understatement. I was excited about the trip because of my familiarity with their products but didn’t expect to walk away with a bigger appreciation of the products and the people who make up MacKenzie-Childs.

What an amazing experience. To see how practically every single employee has a part in the creation and production of each piece was amazing. Each person in that company has a true purpose. So much so, no one ever leaves! I had the opportunity to talk with quite a few of their artisans and each and every one said they had been there since the very beginning. That is unheard of!

After each day, I would call my husband and text my friends back home raving about what truly inspiring company MacKenzie-Childs is. Sure, their products are absolutely beautiful but the people behind the company are so awe inspiring. I couldn’t help but want to learn more or try and be more involved any way that I possibly could. My husband even made the comment that he’s never seen me this passionate and excited to tell him about something, especially in the blogging world.

Coming from a design background, that trip really resonated with me. The process of creating each piece brought back so many memories of being in architecture school, working with plasters and building models. There is just something about handcrafted and hand painted products that really makes you appreciate the little things more.

We even had the opportunity to sit down with an artist and paint our very own MacKenzie-Childs pie plates! Talk about the coolest experience ever. I talked with Callie for over an hour about her time with the company. She has been an artist at MacKenzie-Childs for over 15 years! I also found it pretty amazing when she mentioned that she can now distinguish which pieces she painted in a catalog or online just by looking at them.

Once I got back home I had a completely renewed appreciation for the MacKenzie-Childs brand. I have always dreamed of having a more pieces in my home and they made that dream a reality. Not only did we get some beautiful pieces on the trip but they treated us to creating our perfect holiday with MacKenzie-Childs.

MacKenzie Childs Fall Collection

My dining table is the centerpiece of my home. So I really wanted to have an upscale, mature table setting that would work for each and every holiday. Not just Thanksgiving or Christmas. What I love about the MacKenzie Childs Fall collection is that they have such versatile pieces for every single occasion that all work together in one way or another.

I decided I wanted a mix of their Sweetbriar collection along with a few Courtly Check pieces mixed in. I’m laughing inside as I say a few…  When you look at my table setting, do you only see a few?! What can I say, black and white matches my no color, color palette so well!

If you are looking to build your own MacKenzie-Childs collection I highly suggest starting with Courtly Check pieces. They are the easiest to mix and match with any and all of their other collections, especially the Sweetbriar Collection. Sweetbriar is an all white collection that is absolutely beautiful for Spring all the way into Winter. I was gifted a few pieces from the Sweetbriar Collection over the Spring/Summer and they were such a beautiful addition to my home. These pieces mixed in perfectly with the black and white check print. Click HERE if you missed that post!

Now I’m rambling! Back to my MacKenzie-Childs holiday dining table!

My main goal with picking out pieces for the perfect holiday tablescape was to keep things very neutral with pops of gold. I was so overwhelmed when I was picking everything out. There were so many options and I wasn’t sure if they would work well together. I should also preface this by saying that I have never had an actual table setting so I had no idea what I was looking for!

To say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. Everything looks so beautiful together I just sit there and stare at each piece in awe. It turned out more beautiful than I ever could have imagined. The gold accents are perfect for the holidays and New Year.  Especially because they bring out the gold accents in my large dining room print and pendant lights.

Selecting the Right MacKenzie Childs Fall Collection Pieces for my Tablescape

I ended up going with quite a few Courtly Check and Harlequin pumpkins for Fall and Thanksgiving. Once we get more into Christmas I will bring out more of my Sweetbriar pieces to accent with white. I found the most beautiful jeweled, circle placemats that I fell in love with immediately. They flowed perfectly with the Sweetbriar chargers that I accented with Courtly Check dinner plates. Then I had to make the tough decision of salad plate or a small bowl… I opted for the Sweetbriar small bowls so the Courtly Check dinner plates would be the main accent of the table setting.

I knew I wanted a fun napkin ring and found the most stunning polka dot, flowing bow napkin rings. They are accented in gold around the trim and make the most beautiful statement pieces! I went with simple, ivory napkins adorned with tiny beads around the edges and added in a new set of Check flatware. Because who am I kidding, my current flatware doesn’t even match!

But I think my absolute favorite piece of my table setting has to be the Daffodil Candle Holders with my black Raised Check Dinner Candles. Breathtakingly beautiful, I do have to say. Those babies are complete show stoppers and literally take my breath away every time I glance their way.

This table setting has become the holiday dining table of my dreams. I get so many compliments from everyone who stops by. They all just stop in their tracks and stare. Most can’t believe that every single item on my dining table is from MacKenzie-Childs. It really makes me feel good that I have a dining table that I am proud to show off. I can’t wait to host my family and friends for the holidays for years and years to come.

Before we part ways, I wanted to share a few of my absolute favorite MacKenzie-Childs pieces that I didn’t share in this post. There are so many beautiful new releases for the holidays. They also have so many amazing gift options too!
