Happy Monday, everyone! Grayson and I just got back from a much needed vacation. Most of last week and the weekend was spent in beautiful Hilton Head, South Carolina. We really aren’t people that just go crazy for vacations and feel the need to travel all the time so this was a nice break from our usual scenery. We were actually looking forward to breaking away from the Texas heat but it was just as hot and extra humid there!
As many of you know Grayson and I recently moved out to Lakeway. This was after we had already planned to stay at the Lakeway Resort & Spa so it seemed a bit odd that we would be going on a “vacation” that was only 3 miles away. Man, was I pleasantly surprised. Even though I was only 3 miles from home, I felt like I was in a completely different state. Talk about the perfect staycation!
I’m almost embarrassed to even admit I have been back from Tulum for months now and am JUST now getting this travel guide up. If you aren’t familiar with Tulum, it is a town in the state of Quintana Roo in the Yucatan Peninsula. Tulum has been a popular destination for tourists lately because it is extremely easy to get to, is pretty affordable if you want it to be and appeals to individuals as well as families. I used to frequent Cancun and Playa del Carmen as a child but only recently had seen and heard how amazing Tulum’s beaches and atmosphere were. Grayson and I were mainly drawn to the area because of how easy of a trip it is and how beautiful the beaches were. Since we’ve been back I’ve had quite a few people ask me what there was to do there so I’ve compiled a guide for everything you need to know about Tulum in one place.
How was everyone’s weekend? I’ve been incredibly busy over the past month and was so excited to finally take a break for a fun staycation at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort & Spa in San Antonio! This place is a slice of heaven only an hour outside of Austin so it was such a breeze to get to, besides attempting to drive in during rush hour traffic! I only wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy all of the amazing amenities and those gorgeous hill country views.
Grayson and I recently visited New Orleans for the first time courtesy of refinery29 and Hotel Indigo. It was such a whirlwind trip that we literally booked it right before Thanksgiving and left the day after the holidays for a quick, 48 hour getaway. Since we didn’t have much time to spend in NOLA we definitely had to make the most of it. Whether you’re staying for the weekend or longer, here’s my must see guide to guarantee a great time in New Orleans.
When I say “It’s about time I took a vacation…” it’s usually way past when I REALLY should have taken one so when Lone Star Court approached me about a weekend staycation in Austin, I couldn’t refuse. Grayson and I always love to experience local hotels and this was one we had heard so many amazing things about so we were definitely excited to get away!
Up until about a year ago, I was not the typical Homeaway customer. Any vacation or trip I took, I would always book a hotel and not think twice about it. It was always an easy and comfortable decision. That was until Grayson and I planned a trip to St. Thomas. We quickly found out the only way to make the trip affordable was to look at other alternatives for room and board on our vacation.
I can’t believe it’s almost been an entire month since our elopement! I literally JUST got the link to our wedding photos and can’t wait to show them to y’all!! If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you have probably noticed an overwhelming amount of photos from Scottsdale. So many people have asked, and why Scottsdale… You know it’s really hot there, right?? Grayson and I didn’t have much time to take a full on honeymoon so we elected to go somewhere close for 5 days and the winner was the desert!
Last month I had the pleasure of being invited to Portland to visit costume designer, Deborah Cook, on the set for Kubo and the Two Strings, an upcoming stop-motion animation movie coming to theaters August 19. From the first time I saw Coraline, I knew these films took an army to create but I had no idea how extreme stop-motion actually was. Being amazed was an absolute understatement! Here, I will give you an inside look on what it’s like on an animated, feature film set. From costuming, 3D printing to set building, you are going to be blown away.
The summer is in full swing in Austin and most people are looking for a relaxing staycation getaway. Welcome to the Texas country! Sage Hill Inn Above Onion Creek is a bed and breakfast nestled in the hill country right outside of Austin. For all of you fellow Texans, this is THE new hot spot for a relaxing few days away from the real world.
