{How to Wear Faux Patent Leather Leggings}

When I did a try-on session with these Spanx Faux Patent Leather Leggings I had absolutely no idea they would quickly become one of my best sellers. To be completely honest, the first moment I got these in I was a little unsure these would really work with my style. Even Grayson calls them my dominatrix pants and that they remind him of the latex man from American Horror Story! I don’t completely disagree with his initial thoughts but I quickly changed his mind once I showed him how I would actually wear them!

How to Style Faux Patent Leather Leggings

Believe it or not, these patent leather leggings are the perfect wardrobe staple. You can easily dress these up and dress them down. You can make them stand out as much as you want and easily make them more on the subtle side. These leggings are such a great statement piece for Fall/Winter and I am so excited to add them into my wardrobe.

I haven’t owned anything like these leggings so it was such a fun challenge to put multiple looks together for y’all! If you missed my entire Spanx try on session with these faux patent leather leggings it is all saved over on my Instagram Highlights. I had such a great response from that try on session that I wanted to compile everything into one post so y’all can have as a resource to revert back to.

Before I share the different ways I would wear these leggings I wanted to go over some details. I am wearing the size small in these leggings and I do think they fit true to size. You can also use code DTKxSPANX and get 10% off your entire Spanx order. Take advantage because this code does expire!

First look is a little on the dressier side. The very first image in this post shows a little more subtle way to wear these leggings. OTK boots are an amazing staple to have for Fall/Winter because they will go with anything and everything. These boots are currently 30% off and come in 3 colors. Size up to your next full size.

If you want more of a WOW factor with these leggings just throw on a pair of heels instead of OTK boots. This way more of the leggings are showing to give you that added statement.

I am wearing a size XS in my blazer. You can use code ASHLEY15 to get 15% off your entire Object Rare order. My tank top is also a staple piece for any season. I am wearing the size Large as they do run pretty small!

This coat was a hot commodity during NSALE this year! It sold out within the first few days of being launched. It is FINALLY back in stock but sadly, it’s full price. Either way, it is definitely worth the splurge because everyone needs a black coat as a staple in their wardrobe.

I am wearing the XS in this photo but should have sized up to the Small. Stick with your normal size as I do feel like this coat runs small especially if you’re going to wear thicker tops underneath.

Wearing a longer coat is another way to wear these leggings on the subtle side. You still get the wow factor when you walk but you can only see a peek of the leggings when standing still. This look is an easy and great way to make a subtle statement!

Y’all know I can’t go an entire try on without showing you my favorite BlankNYC Moto jacket! These jackets are such an easy way to edge up any outfit, including these patent leather leggings. This is probably my favorite way to wear these Spanx leggings. If you don’t like the leggings showing this much, throw on a pair of OTK boots and they will be much more on the subtle side.

I am wearing the XS in this Moto jacket. I actually own this same jacket in multiple sizes depending on what I am going to wear underneath. Stick with your usual size or go up a size if you are going to wear thicker tops underneath but you can size down if you want to wear thinner shirts or tank tops.

This off-the-shoulder sweater is an easy way to dress these leggings down. If you want to wear this sweater and dress these leggings up more; throw on a pair of heels. I personally love the way the patent leather peeks out from the longer sweater and taller OTK boots.

Sadly, this specific sweater was on NSALE and sold out within the first few days. I linked a couple other similar options above along with my favorite bralettes. Sizing tip – I usually size down in these types of sweaters.

    You styled these beautifully and I am loving the options. I’ve always been hesitant to style faux leather leggings because of how shiny they are, but you have absolutely NAILED IT!

    GIRL. These are some serious hot pants! Talk about sexy! I love how you managed to style them in so many different ways because it actually showed their versatility when I would originally only put them in the category of club pants or something like that. Now I want to try them for myself. They look like so much fun!

      You can put a light coat of oil on the leggings and that will stop the problem.
