When it rains it pours! Anyone else ever have photos scheduled and then it starts pouring? That was my day. I got all ready to shoot for the blog, planned out a couple of looks, packed the car up and got to the location and BAM. It starts raining! Either way, we got some fun shots of this awesome trench coat dress! Do y’all have a favorite black trench coat? Have you ever thought about wearing it as a dress? Now, don’t go getting those thoughts of people wearing trench coats around with nothing on underneath them! I know this trench coat dress is a trend that doesn’t appeal to most people but it has become one of my go-to looks lately. The classy way. 😂
Not all trenches are created equal. I say this because you can’t wear every trench as a trench coat dress. There are ways that you can make almost any trench look as if it is the main focus of your entire outfit. This trench in particular is sadly sold out but it is a perfect example of a trench coat dress. I’m going to link it HERE just in case it does come back in stock. I’ve linked a few classic black trenches below for anyone who is in the market.
Here are a few tips if you are trying to find the right trench to pull off as a trench coat dress. First, make sure you find a style that fits you well. The double breasted style is always ideal. Next, find a trench that hits a little above your knee. Looking frumpy in a coat isn’t ideal for a sleek and classic look. I personally feel that a black trench works the best. If you are uncomfortable wearing a trench alone then throw on a dress underneath. The Leith dresses I have previously posted about would be the best for this look. You can shop the sleeveless HERE and the long sleeve HERE.
I always love this trench coat dress look with tights and OTK (over-the-knee boots), especially when it’s chillier outside. If you’re not a fan of tall boots then opt for a pair of booties. Either pair of shoes will elongate the legs and make you look slimmer. I want to see y’alls photos if you try this trend out! Make sure to tag me or message me!
