As many of you know Grayson and I recently moved out to Lakeway. This was after we had already planned to stay at the Lakeway Resort & Spa so it seemed a bit odd that we would be going on a “vacation” that was only 3 miles away. Man, was I pleasantly surprised. Even though I was only 3 miles from home, I felt like I was in a completely different state. Talk about the perfect staycation!
For those of y’all not in Texas, Lakeway is about 12 miles west of Austin. Lakeway Resort & Spa is located right on the south shore of Lake Travis. With a pool, the tastiest restaurant and easy lake access it is the perfect spot for a hill-country getaway.
Right after we checked in to our beautiful, lake view room we immediately went down to the Back Porch Bar. I hadn’t planned on shooting anything since we arrived around 7pm but when I saw the sunset I knew it was the perfect opportunity to capture what Lakeway Resort & Spa is literally all about. Famed for their gorgeous Texas sunsets I knew I had to capture this moment. We spent the rest of the evening sitting outside with the tastiest drinks chatting with nicest couple who were there celebrating their wedding anniversary.
Before we started our day I had some coffee and went to sit outside on our balcony overlooking the lake. As soon as we sat down to relax and enjoy the sunrise a group of 5 deer wandered up. The room was super spacious which was perfect for the amount of clothes, shoes and accessories I brought. Yet, I somehow forgot ALL of my bras! Being in full relaxation mode, I refused to drive the 3 miles home to get them. 😂 Because who needs bras on vacation??
Next stop, the spa. I don’t know about y’all but if I am on any sort of vacation, near or far, the spa is an absolute must. My usual go-to is a massage but I switched it up and decided to try a 50 minute Signature Facial. Talk about perfection! Even the waiting room was an absolute dream. I opted to sit outside on the balcony lounge chairs and enjoy that stunning view. If you haven’t realized by now there are balconies everywhere at this resort. For good reason, obviously!
After my relaxing facial, Grayson and I packed up to head out to the enjoy our afternoon by the pool. With separate pools for families and adults only and a bar in between, it’s the perfect setup for any type of vacationer. We got lucky and found a corner spot overlooking the lake and the pool. We spent the next few hours soaking up some Vitamin D before our dinner that evening at T.R. Restaurant Bar & Lounge.
Usually, when I am away on vacation I rely on room service WAY too much. This vacation was different for 2 simple reasons; the food and the view. We made reservations at the T.R. Restaurant Bar & Lounge for a sunset dinner Saturday evening. They have a spacious balcony with plenty of tables overlooking the pool and the lake so you get the full experience. The food was absolutely amazing. Grayson and I started out with the tastiest tempura fried pickles. My main course was over roasted salmon and Grayson ordered the filet mignon. SO. YUMMY.
Even though we were only a few miles away from home, I felt like I was in a totally different world. Grayson and I literally didn’t want to leave on Sunday. We tried soaking in as much of the resort as we possibly could before we checked out. We loved it so much I even asked to come back to shoot on the gorgeous property and maybe enjoy that amazing pool too! 😜
Whether you are visiting Austin or need a staycation close to home, I HIGHLY recommend Lakeway Resort & Spa.
