How was everyone’s weekend? I’ve been incredibly busy over the past month and was so excited to finally take a break for a fun staycation at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort & Spa in San Antonio! This place is a slice of heaven only an hour outside of Austin so it was such a breeze to get to, besides attempting to drive in during rush hour traffic! I only wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy all of the amazing amenities and those gorgeous hill country views.
The first thing we noticed while driving into the resort was how breathtakingly beautiful it was. JW has done an amazing job at transporting you into the serene Texas hill country while only being minutes away from downtown San Antonio. I had a feeling the view from our room would be amazing and I definitely wasn’t disappointed. As we walked into our room, the first thing I noticed was the nicest surprise JW had arranged for us; chips, salsa, jerky and tequila! Once we got settled in we took our treats out onto the balcony and enjoyed a gorgeous sunset before dinner. Since we arrived later in the day I was really looking forward to tomorrow and experiencing all that the JW had to offer.
I started out bright and early Saturday morning because I knew how easy it would be to fill up a day with fun activities. First on the list was the spa! I scheduled the Texas Two Step which was any 80 minute treatment paired with any 50 minute treatment. I chose a custom purifying facial and a lavender herbal massage. Talk about relaxing! I’ve been to countless amounts of spas but what I loved about this spa in particular was how they embrace the spirit and traditions of Latin American Curanderos to offer timeless treatments in a relaxing, luxurious setting.
After spending a few hours at the spa, I met my friend Ana to spend the rest of the day at one of the many pools on the property. Not only do they have an expansive main pool, they have an adult-only infinity pool PLUS a 9-acre water park with a lazy river. With it being a hot, Texas summer day, the pool was quite busy so we grabbed a private cabana. If you’re headed to the resort and want to spend time the pool but want more privacy, I would 100% recommend reserving a cabana for the day. Not only do you have you own private sitting area but you have a small wading pool with partially submerged lounge chairs to enjoy. I even gained a few followers but not the Instagram kind! We had the cutest boys coming over to our cabana flirting with us; it was adorable!
If you’re wanting to enjoy a relaxing day by the pool without kids there is an adult only infinity pool overlooking the sprawling greens of the TPC golf course.
After a relaxing day at the pool, we were famished and ready for some tasty Texas comfort food. We decided to eat at Cibolo Moon, one of the local restaurants at the resort that offers a contemporary blend of Southwestern and Mexican-inspired cuisine. Our waiter was absolutely amazing and has some great recommendations for us. We knew we were going to overindulge so we had order strategically. Instead of ordering typical appetizers we ordered the best Drunkin’ Goat Mac & Cheese and were surprised with the yummiest warm biscuits paired with homemade strawberry and jalapeño jam. So much for our strategic planning! I ended up ordering the Redfish on the Half Shell and Ana ordered the Filet Mignon. If you aren’t into Southwestern cuisine, there are a few other dining options that would suit your needs.
The next morning, we made our way to grab some coffee at the local Starbucks conveniently located right by the lobby of the hotel! This was our last chance to enjoy the resort so we decided to take a stroll around the property and found the cutest rocking chairs with the best view. It was the perfect way to end out hill country cowgirls trip! 😜
If you’re looking for that pristine hill country escape without having to go too far outside of the big city, the JW Marriott offers a perfect experience for you and your family just minutes outside of downtown San Antonio.
Thank you JW Marriott for sponsoring this post.
