It’s almost the weekend (hooray!) and that means date night!! Am I the only one that has trouble finding something cute yet semi-sexy to wear on a date? Seriously, the struggle is real, especially in Austin. People literally stroll into a nice restaurant in shorts and a tank top. You’ll occasionally see a couple who is actually dressed up but it’s few and far between. That makes it extremely tough to actually know what to wear for a night out when you’re wondering if you’re dressed up TOO much or too little. It’s also a little frustrating coming from Fort Worth and Dallas where everyone dressed up super fancy for any type of outing! Seriously, even going to the grocery store. Totally guilty. Moving to Austin I got rid of so many dressy clothes because I knew I would rarely get to wear them here. People seriously look at you like you’re insane if you’re wearing super nice clothes unless you pull up in a Aston Marton, especially if you aren’t at the nicest restaurant that doesn’t warrant nice clothes.
In my search for a date night dress I came across the most amazing find that I am so excited to share with y’all! I just love telling y’all about cute stores/things I find every now and then so I apologize if I sound like a broken record at times. Most of y’all are familiar with Red Dress Boutique by now from some of my previous posts but if not, they are one of my favorite online women’s clothing stores because they always have new clothing online at extremely affordable prices.
I’m sure you can all guess where this dress came from, right… Red Dress, of course! I was really drawn to this lace number from its beautiful detailing. I am in love with any LBD (little black dress) but this one is covered with a black lace overlay and a completely sheer, lace back. It’s nice because there is so much detailing that you really don’t need to worry about adding too many accessories because this dress has everything built in! I figured this dress would be a safe bet for an evening out in September. What do y’all think? It’s actually been getting chilly in the mornings and at night so I was planning to throw on a pair of tights underneath especially if it’s still too warm for a coat to layer. I seriously obsess with any mini dress I can throw on tights with during the chillier months! I think it is one of the chicest and sexiest looks for Fall. Not only do you have slimmer looking legs but you’re also staying warm! Ha!
Another reason I love this dress is how versatile you can make it! You definitely aren’t confined to one pair of shoes or jacket if you want to wear this in the cooler temps. You can easily throw on some OTK boots, booties, or pumps with this dress. I wore a pair of patent leather heels to dress up the entire look. These pumps are also from Red Dress Boutique and look so classy when matched with a cute LBD. Never underestimate the power of some strappy heels. You can wear them with LITERALLY anything. Jeans, skirts, shorts, dresses you can never go wrong. Even though I would have preferred wearing tights and a cute pair of OTKs but its sadly still 95 degrees in Austin!

(I also live in Austin but grew up in California.) Since I started following you last year, I have repeatedly looked at your photos and thought, “where does she ACTUALLY wear all of her cute heels because anywhere I go, I feel like people would look at me like I’m from another planet and have 3 boobs.” A poor corner of my closet has become a high heel graveyard because I figured flats and booties would be the only shoes in my foreseeable future.

YESSS!! Seriously though, it’s sad! My husband always walks into my office and tells me I need to get rid of all of my awesome shoes because I never wear them! NO WAY! One day… and if not, they’re pretty to look at. ha!
