I am just going to preface this post with the fact that I despise jeans. Can you believe that as someone who wears jeans constantly? Have I hooked you in yet?? I remember my distaste for jeans at a very young age. If I didn’t have to wear them you better believe I was going to be in something else. In this day and age it might be appropriate for me to wear leggings 24/7 but I’m just not that person.
This is why it is SO important for me to find the absolute best skinny jeans for my specific body type. It wasn’t until this year that I actually took the time to try on every single pair of jeans I owned to see what fit me perfectly. Not only perfectly, but what I would actually wear and stay comfortable in all day long.
It wasn’t until a month ago that I really tried to pinpoint what I was looking for in the perfect pair of jeans. As I’m getting older my body type is changing rapidly, it seems. One thing that hasn’t changed is my long torso. Believe it or not, this plays a HUGE part in the type of jeans that fit my body. I also have larger thighs from playing soccer for so long which has proven difficult.
The one thing that drives me insane about denim is the fact that they stretch out so much. Then I’m like well, do I buy a pair that is a size too small where my muffin top is hanging out because they are going to eventually stretch out and be the correct size? No. I shouldn’t have to do that. The other thing that coincides with stretching out is the fact that jeans fall down so fast. I feel like every time I am constantly pulling my pants up if I am wearing denim! Am I the only one?
So what do I look for when buying the best fitting denim? You better believe I will never be wearing anything low-rise. Mid-rise denim works every once in a while but the lower the jeans are the quicker they like to fall down. Sure, I could wear a belt but I don’t really want to do that. I have found that higher rise jeans work wonders for me. The Hudson jeans that fit me the best were all super skinny, high rise. I also love wearing jeans that almost mimic the feel of leggings. I feel like I need denim that is almost going to suck me in for a slimming affect. The length isn’t really a concern for me as you can always just get that fixed by a tailor. The overall fit in the waist and thighs is what I’m really concerned with.
Overall, the pair of Hudson jeans I found at Zappos was perfect. I ordered a few pairs of jeans and ended up only keeping the high-waisted Hudson jeans. Now, don’t y’all start thinking of high-waisted mom jeans. These definitely aren’t your momma’s kinda jeans!! High-waisted denim has come a long way and I LOVE them!
I am literally the pickiest dresser out of anyone you probably know. I hardly own any variety of clothes and only purchase things that pass my extensive fit/style tests. SO, If you are in the market for a new pair of denim for the cooler months I definitely recommend checking out Hudson. Especially, if you have never tried this brand before. Zappos has a massive selection of Hudson denim.
**These Hudson jeans ARE ON SALE!! I just realized I didn’t add any info on sizing either. These jeans do run true to size. I am wearing a 26 and they fit amazing in the waist and legs. They are going to be a little long if you are on the shorter side but have jeans tailored is so inexpensive. I am 5′ 8″ and the length is perfect.
