{How to Create Layered Outfits for Fall}

DTKAustin shares how to pull of darker hues in the Fall/Winter and still be able to show off detailed accessories. Frye Tote, Ariat OTK Boots, Boohoo Cardigan.

Y’all. It is going to be in the 50s tomorrow in Austin and then slowly creep up into the upper 70s but YAY, Fall is sort of here! Honestly, I will take whatever I can get at this point. It was so nice earlier last week that I actually felt pretty comfortable wearing this layered outfit while shooting. Normally, I am dying of a heat stroke trying to shoot Fall looks in 90+ degree weather! If y’all have read some of my other posts lately I’m sure y’all know how ready I am for colder weather. I’m one of those native Texans that probably shouldn’t be living in Texas because I hate the heat so much. I was made for the cold weather so I guess I should plan a winter vacation soon. Any favorite locations?? I was thinking of heading to Utah, Banff or Michigan in the near future once Steven gets better.

I’m super excited to share this look with y’all because it is definitely going to be one of my go-to looks this Fall and Winter. I say winter because it won’t get that cold here… Sad times. I recently did a couple posts about Boohoo coming to Austin for a pop-up shop. This cardigan is one of my favorite finds from their store and it is only $36 AND has pockets! I loved this particular cardigan because it 1. has pockets and 2. is oversized and 3. it is 3/4 length sleeve so you can layer with a lightweight long sleeve shirt if you are in between seasons.

If you’re wondering what type of shirt to layer with, stick with something that is light weight. You don’t have to break the bank with a shirt either. I purchased this black long sleeve shirt from the Nordstrom NSALE this year and actually got it in all 3 colors because I love layering. I definitely recommend sizing up if you are between sizes because it does run a little small and I really don’t like my clothing too tight.

Let’s talk accessories. Of course, you will always see me in felt hats or beanies in the Fall/Winter. I feel like my style is just known for constantly wearing beanies. And you want to know why??? Because you don’t have to wash your hair as often! I’m not even joking. It’s the best thing ever and beanies look cute on everyone! These boots are another favorite of mine. I just scored them from Ariat’s new Fall collection and I couldn’t be more in love. They are grey, which is my fave color and they are the softest suede with beautiful detailing. If you are looking for a splurge shoe that will be your key boot for the Fall, definitely check this pair out. The grey goes with everything and they are extremely comfortable. This particular pair does run true to size as well.

I could go on and on about accessories but let me leave you with a couple tips. If you are looking for an amazing pair of slimming denim, check out Mott & Bow. I despise wearing jeans but these quickly became the pair I grab for every single day. They are SO slimming and fit like a glove. Literally. Getting them on is such an effort but once they are on, MY GOSH they’re so good. They’re not expensive either… Definitely check them out!

    Lol I live in Dallas, so I know how you feel. I actually moved from Louisiana a few months ago and it also didn’t get cold there. I would definitely go up north for some cooler weather if I had the chance. I need that cardigan in my life! It’s so perfect for fall 🙂
