Who else is super excited for the Kentucky Derby?! I can’t believe I am admitting this, but I have literally NEVER actually watched the Derby itself! Shocking, I know. And I LOVE horses! I made a point this year to be extremely involved with the Derby and decided to co-chair an amazing charity event! What’s better than throwing a huge party at a gorgeous house, raising money for a good cause, dressing up AND watching the Derby? I couldn’t think of any better way!

So what is everyone planning to wear?? I literally JUST ordered my dress a couple of days ago from ASOS. If you’re familiar with them, they definitely have some crazy dresses that would be perfect for Derby-wear. But on a more serious note, the toughest part isn’t even the dress… It’s the damn HAT. I still am not THAT impressed with my hat, but given it was from Forever 21 and I ordered it a couple of days ago, it will do! I hope.. I haven’t even seen my dress and the hat together! I had picked out a super fab hat from Nordstrom but when I went to order it, it had SOLD OUT!! Just my luck!!

Anyway, the dress in this blog post was another strong contender for the Derby event, but I wasn’t sure if I should actually wear black… Crazy, I know, since I am ALWAYS in black! I scored this gorgeous dress at POSH Boutique (If you’re in Austin and in need of a dress, check them out) and actually had pulled it for a photoshoot for Austin Woman Magazine! Keep an eye out in the June issue! 🙂 I loved it so much I had to buy it for myself!
