As time goes on I’ve become more aware and knowledgeable about the products I’ve been putting on and in my body over years and years. It feels like the older I get the more products I am putting all over my skin. Everyone wants to have the smoothest skin, the best hair, etc. but at what cost? With that being said, I wanted to give y’all an inside look at my daily hair-care routine. Since I chopped all of my hair off, I’ve received a few messages on Instagram from people asking how I get my hair so silky, soft and shiny. In this post I am going to share a few of my favorite hair products that I swear by! Not to mention, they are safer alternatives! One of my goals this year is to implement healthier practices however I can.
I am very particular with what products I use on a daily basis. It seemed silly to me for the very first thing I do in the morning is jump in the shower and start putting chemicals in my body. I had heard of Giovanni Cosmetics when I was shopping at Sprouts down the road from my house. Their sleek and easy-to-read packaging caught my eye, not to mention their products are actually affordable! I am all about simplicity on products so I immediately picked up one of their shampoos. That was the beginning of my love for everything Giovanni Cosmetics.
Giovanni Cosmetics:
I’m going to give you a little behind the scenes of my hair struggles. A couple of years ago I had stopped taking my birth control after 15 years in hopes my body would thank me. You know, the less chemicals the better. Sadly, the complete opposite happened. I ended up losing over half of my precious long hair. That resulted in me getting hair extensions so no one would know the difference. Overall, I was extremely upset and depressed that trying to get my body in a better place was hurting my body. Long story short, I made the priority to start taking better care of my scalp and head health.
Giovanni Cosmetics’ hair products were a life saver for me. They have over 100 vegan products. In addition to that… get ready for it…Their products are cruelty free, paraben-free, and sulfate free. They all have biodegradable ingredients, eco-friendly packaging, absolutely no artificial colors, no paraffin, no mineral oil, no phthalates, no DEA, no petrolatum, no formaldehyde (gross!) and no propylene glycol.
This is exactly what I needed. Thankfully, over the past year, my hair has started growing back and is healthier than ever. I made the decision to take most of my extensions out to focus on having a healthier scalp.
Let me stop rambling and actually tell y’all what I’ve been using!
I started out and still use the Tea Tree Triple Invigorating Shampoo and Conditioner. What I loved about this particular shampoo is the amazing tingle you get in your scalp. I like to think it is a healthy scalp stimulating shampoo. It Increases scalp circulation and leaves you feeling absolutely rejuvenated.
I also love the Smooth as Silk Deep Moisture Shampoo and conditioner. These shampoos and conditioners have been perfect for me to use every second or third wash. I never like my hair to get accustomed to certain products that I want to continue working. The Smooth as Silk products keep my hair hydrated and healthy especially when I am putting too much heat on my hair. I try not to curl or straighten my hair everyday but sometimes its just inevitable that I fix my hair multiple times a day. I like to think of these as a bring my hair back to life type of product.
I always apply my shampoo, bring to a nice lather and leave on for a couple of minutes while I wash my body. I don’t know why but I always feel like if I leave shampoo on for a little while it’s going to do a better job! I could be crazy, but whatever I’ve been doing is working! Not only do they leave my scalp feeling amazing but they smell so yummy! It’s not one of those overwhelming fragrant smells either. It smells oh, so natural because they’re scented with essential oils!
After the shower I will normally towel dry my hair while I brush my teeth and put my contacts in. Before I blow dry I always spray in Giovanni Vitapro Fusion Protective Moisturizer Leave-In Hair Treatment. Not only does it protect my hair from all of the heat I am about to put on my hair but it leaves it feeling so silky and shiny.
