{Everything You Need to Know about CBD}

If you have followed me on Instagram over the last few months you are probably well aware of my new found love of all things CBD. A little over a year ago I stumbled across Equilibria. Equilibria CBD is a company for women; by women. Of course, your guy can totally take it too! I will go into more detail on that later in the post.

First, I want to note that you can use code DTKAUSTIN for 15% off your entire order. I highly suggest signing up for a subscription. It is the best bang for your buck and you can cancel at any time. Subscription prices are even lower (20% lower to be exact) and in addition to my 15% off discount code you’re essentially getting 35% off your entire order.

Equilibria CBD

Let’s go through a little CBD 101 –

What is CBD? CBD is short for cannabidiol. It is one of over 150 naturally-occurring compounds (aka “cannabinoids”) found in the Cannabis Sativa plant.

What are Cannabinoids? Cannabinoids are chemical compounds that interact with receptors in our Endocannabinoid System (ECS). The ECS plays a crucial role in regulating sleep, inflammation, mood, and overall homeostasis (a body’s state of balance). Did you know our bodies naturally produce cannabinoids called endocannabinoids?

What is the difference between Broad and Full Spectrum CBD? Broad has absolutely no THC. Full Spectrum CBD has less than 0.3% THC. NO, you cannot get high from taking CBD. Not even drinking the entire bottle would give you that effect. Full Spectrum is more effective than broad spectrum but it is possible, yet very unlikely, that you could test positive on a drug test.

Why would someone need/use CBD?  CBD helps with anxiety, sleep, pain, inflammation, helps soothe cramps, pain from endometriosis, helps reduce headache pain; just to name a few!

Why do I take CBD?

Alright, now let’s get into the nitty gritty details on why I personally take CBD. Ever since I was a young child (around 6 years old) I have had debilitating anxiety which caused extreme stomach issues. Back then no one really understood what anxiety was or the root issue of why a young kid would be having such issues.

We pretty much let it go and I self managed the best I could. Any little thing would give me anxiety as a child. Waiting for the school bus to come pick me up, a test, being bullied, etc. My anxiety gave me IBS from a very young age which is something I still struggle with.

By the time I got to college my anxiety was on another level. I finally decided to see another doctor and he insisted it was ADHD and prescribed me Adderall. I refused to take medication for something I knew I didn’t have. There was no way this was ADHD… I had full blown anxiety!

I am now 34 years old and still have (well had) extreme anxiety which has also caused social anxiety. In addition to my day-to-day stressors of work I start getting worked up over things that are totally out of my control. Queue the stomach issues! It is a vicious cycle on a daily basis and something needed to change. Not to mention, I was diagnosed with endometriosis about 4-5 years ago and have debilitating stomach pain.

I had heard about CBD years ago when it first started coming about. I’m not one to take medication and to be completely honest, I was a little skeptical. I’m not one to smoke weed and I didn’t really want to be associated with a “weed-like” product. Obviously, I had no idea what CBD was at the time or my thoughts would have been completely different.

Let me tell you, I am so glad I found Equilibria! My anxiety is gone, my IBS is completely under control and I can actually get my daily tasks done without worrying about unnecessary crap that is out of my control!

I know a ton of y’all have been skeptical to try CBD products. That’s probably my most popular DM is that you’re scared to take it. Y’all, it is well worth it! My body, mind and spirit have never felt better in my entire life. Literally, my ENTIRE life! Anxiety has been with me since I was a child and it is with me no more!

What specific CBD products do I use/take?

I take one Soft Gel in the morning with breakfast; usually avocado toast, almond butter toast or a banana and almond butter shake. Always take your CBD Soft Gels with a healthy fat like avocado or peanut/almond butter. This keeps me calm, relaxed and stress free throughout the entire day. The soft gels work as a time release so you will get the effects throughout your day.

In the evening I will take a full dropper of the Mint Daily Drops. I take this about 15-20 minutes before bed and I have literally never slept better in my entire life. I am eased into sleep and wake up feeling stress free with absolutely no anxiety. The Daily Drops do not leave you feeling groggy either. You wake up feeling awake and refreshed!

I recently got my hands on their two new seasonal flavors of Daily Drops; Cranberry Elderflower and the Spiced Bergamot and highly recommend either of those!

If I start sensing stress or anxiety coming on I will take half a dropper of the Daily Drops which will take effect immediately to give instant relief. I will keep doing this as needed throughout the day. There is no limit to the amount of daily drops you can take. If you start getting tired from the drops you might need to slow down.

I also use their Relief Cream on an as needed basis. As I mentioned above, I was diagnosed with endometriosis and have severe abdominal pain. I put the Relief Cream on my stomach area and it works wonders. Same if I have a headache or feel a headache coming on. I will put the Relief Cream on my temples and instantly feel relief. It is truly amazing!

I have now been taking Equilibria CBD for almost 4 months now and will never go a day in my life without taking either the Soft Gels or the Daily Drops. They have made my life and health so much better in so many different ways. Highly recommend!

Here are some of YOUR most frequently asked questions answered by a dosage specialist –

Which products should I start out with? I highly suggest starting out with a subscription of the Brilliance Box (this subscription + my code DTKAUSTIN saves you $52!) or the Balance Box. These are both available in Mint or Unflavored. I personally recommend the Mint if you don’t like the taste of weed. They also sell their products individually if you wanted to test specific products out first; such as their bath products, relief cream, seasonal flavors or their extra strength CBD. You can also add individual products to your subscription too.

Can you take it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding? Unfortunately, pregnant and breastfeeding women are always the last group to be studied in clinical trials, so there’s very little data as to whether or not CBD can be used during pregnancy. Ultimately, for most women it comes down to whether CBD is helping them manage anxiety and reduce the amount of pharmaceuticals they’re taking. Some women decide it’s the lesser of two evils, and some women decide not to use it during their pregnancy or while breastfeeding. It comes down to personal choice and a discussion with your doctor.

Can you test positive on a drug test? Everyone’s body chemistry is different, so this is kind of a grey area, we don’t know for sure how your body will metabolize our products. Think of it like consuming alcohol. If a beer is 5% ABV/Alcohol By Volume (like how our products contain 0.3% THC or less), the amount you consume determines your BAC/Blood Alcohol Level (or in this case, THC level in the bloodstream). So the more you ingest at a time, the more likely it will be detected on a test. While it is uncommon for members to test positive given the very low THC content in our products, it is not impossible. You can always grab an over-the-counter THC test at your local pharmacy to find out for sure.

Can you become dependent on it to sleep? CBD is non-habit forming, however, that doesn’t mean you won’t notice a change in your sleep if you stop taking it. The effects of CBD are so subtle that many people find the first time they notice just how well CBD was working for them is when they forget to take it for a few days.

What is the youngest someone can take CBD? Unfortunately, we can only advise on CBD usage for people over 18.

Other helpful Equilibria CBD information –

This is important! With every single Equilibria order you have access to a dosage specialist for free. Seriously, take advantage of this. They are available to ask any and all questions about specific products, if you are taking the correct dosages, if you need to change anything, etc. They are such an amazing resource and will spend as much time as needed to get your specific dosage out that will work best for your body.

You can also use your daily drops on an as needed basis. Say, if you find yourself feeling overwhelmed or anxious take a small amount of your daily drops. Start with a 1/2 dropper (5mg/0.5ml) of Daily Drops, dose up in half droppers every 20 minutes, as needed.

Stick with a CBD routine. In some cases, it could take up to 3 months to feel the full effects. This is why a subscription is key. You are saving money and you don’t have to remember to order refills of anything. It will be waiting for you just in time!

Always take your CBD Soft Gels with a healthy fat like avocado or peanut/almond butter.

If you don’t like the flavor, chill your Daily Drops in the refrigerator.

Remember, the Daily Drops hit your bloodstream quicker and also leave your system sooner. The Soft Gels are essentially time release so you get a slow, steady release.

I swear by CBD. It’s been a huge help when it comes to anxiety. I struggle really horribly with anxiety and always have, but CBD has definitely decreased my panic attacks and stressful days. I have yet to try Equilibria, but I’ve only heard positive things. I hope to give them a go in the future. The seasonal daily drops sound phenomenal! So many other great health benefits to those ingredients.

I add new posts every once in a while but the blog is no longer my main focus as I do have a full time job as well and just don’t have the time I used to to keep the blog updated.
