Hello, October!! (Geez, where has the time gone) October is one of my favorites months; 1. because it’s my mom’s birthday 2. because HALLOWEEN and 3. it actually starts feeling like Fall in Texas!! If you haven’t guessed by now, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I do everything I can to celebrate, including but not limited to amazing costume makeup with my girl, Lorena. We have been working on some fun make-up projects since I met her over 5 years ago. Obviously, we couldn’t let this Halloween pass us by without another cool look! If you missed last year’s post, click HERE. We showed 4 Halloween looks that are sure to turn heads and super easy to recreate!
For this look we wanted something a little more intricate and detailed compared to the other tutorials we have done. We took inspiration from 4 different Halloween makeup looks and combined different details all into one awesome look. We’re calling this one Queen Midas Skull. I always have this thing for skeleton makeup so we had to mix it up with this one so they don’t all start looking the same. After 4 hours of getting my face and body painted we were done and on to the hair. We both thought an awesome faux-hawk would be a great fit but still classy enough to finish off the entire look.
One of the toughest things when getting my Halloween make-up done is what to wear. It’s easy if we were doing an IT themed shoot because I would obviously be wearing a clown costume. When you do skeleton make-up like this, it’s tough to actually figure out what is appropriate to wear. Sure, you can go the super sexy route that more girls still love but I needed something a little more covered up, yet classy that would still make the make-up the main focus of the look. I ended up opting for a pair of black leggings from Zara, a corset I’ve had for years and some leather heels. I didn’t want my wardrobe to take away from the overall make-up so a solid black look worked for me. After shooting this look and editing the photos I think the all black look was a great choice because your eyes are drawn to the make-up and hair.
If you’re wanting to achieve a similar look we just used black, white and gold body paint that you can pick up almost anywhere. Get more inspiration from looking at Instagram under #halloweenmakeup or similar hashtags. We found some really cool options that we might try out before Halloween!
