2019 was one of the best and worst years of my life. Not only did I have my own personal struggles but my best friend was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. I vowed to myself that 2020 was going to be a year of reflection, personal growth and change. This is the year that I put the majority of my focus on what I can do to help others. I am so grateful to have a voice and an influence to spread the word on what we can do to lend a hand to those in need.  Especially when it comes to the current This Shirt Saves Lives campaign from St. Jude’s Hospital.

By now it’s no surprise that I love helping others and donating my time and/or money whenever I possibly can. I’ve absolutely loved sharing those experiences with y’all. It makes me so happy to see how excited and inspired y’all have been to go out and do something kind for humans and even helpless animals.

Which brings me to this post and how y’all can get involved. This post is going to be all about two of my favorite things; dirt bikes and donating. I’m sure y’all are wondering how these go hand-in-hand so let me give you a little backstory. For as long as I can remember, my dad and I have had a bond over dirt bikes. I’ve always been a tomboy at heart and I don’t think that will ever change. It’s always something that will bring me closer to my dad and I absolutely love that. He lives a few hours away so we don’t see each other as often as I would like but we always make time to watch Supercross together every Saturday evening. We’ll text each other saying “Are you ready for Supercross?! 10 more minutes!” And then we text our race commentary throughout.

We have really made it our thing and it’s something I look forward to every weekend. Back in 2017 we actually started attending some of the races. We started off with the biggest and very last race of the season in Las Vegas. After that, life would never be the same. We were hooked! We started making plans to attend all of the Texas races each season.

Last year, I really wanted to make my attendance more meaningful and worthwhile. I wanted to provide some value instead of my buddy Sean just thinking we were mooching tickets off of him! Of course, I always post on Instagram and the blog but I knew there was more I could be doing. I knew Supercross had an affiliation with St. Jude from seeing their This Shirt Saves Lives campaigns during each race. Sean had the brilliant idea of having me in one of the St. Jude shirts out on the track to post on Instagram to drum up some interest and donations from a new audience. So, of course, I was in!

This Shirt Saves Lives Campaign

So when the 2020 season rolled around, I knew I wanted to be involved. I immediately started brainstorming ideas and prepared to pitch them to Monster Energy’s PR manager at the Arlington race. For starters, we needed to re-shoot some updated This Shirt Saves Lives photos since they came out with a new grey color. Sean told me there was a new color coming out and I was like…Oh… You know I don’t wear color right!? Turns out, their new color was grey. 🤣 Glad we’re all on the same page about color thats not really colorful.

Anyway, my meeting couldn’t have gone better. I threw all of my ideas on the table, we brainstormed and came up with some epic plans! I can’t wait to share them with y’all once we get more details nailed down.

We also got some awesome shots on the Arlington track before the main races started. My photographer friend, Tyler Tate, that I met in Vegas shot the pics below.

It means so much to me to have the honor of being a part of such a special movement. The Arlington race was one of my favorites because it was a Triple Crown which means there are THREE main events! RJ Hampshire won the first race, Chase Sexton won the second race, and Shane McElrath won the third. The overall winner was Chase Sexton in the 250SX.

Eli Tomac ended up winning the 450SX overall. Ken Roczen came in second and Jason Anderson came in third after an EPIC battle.

And then one of the luckiest crashes at the end of the second main. Cooper Webb went down hard right in front of us and had to be carried off and carted away by the Alpine Stars medical staff. Luckily, he only had a hematoma with deep bone bruising to his pelvis and he was back racing in Atlanta the next weekend!
