If you live in Texas you know that minimal clothing is ideal during the summer. So how does one achieve cuteness without sweating one’s ass off? If you guys haven’t noticed by now I have been living in cutoff shorts and white tops. My Instagram and all of my blog posts are literally all starting to look the same at this point. But hey, when you find something you love wearing buy multiples! That is exactly how I feel about anything white and off-the-shoulder. Not only is it breathable but it doesn’t attract the sun like my normal, go-to black on black on black outfits! Now don’t get me wrong. I am still sporting black athleisure on a daily basis but I really don’t think anyone would enjoy seeing me in the same black leggings, black Nike’s and black tank tops every single day.
Alright, so if you’re a Texan or really anyone in the south for that matter, you are stocking up on summer gear right about now. I’ve been scouring stores for anything that is affordable and 100 degree/hot & humid appropriate. 😂 Seriously though, Texas summers are killer and it’s already getting close to the 90s!
The last time I was at Nordstrom I found this gorgeous white top. I know I’ve said it in previous posts but I’ll say it again. It is so tough to find cute tops that actually have different detailing on them since they’ll end up all looking the same, especially if they’re all white. One thing that drew me to love this top even more was the fact that it is made of seersucker. It has been years since I have loved anything seersucker besides my pants that are now extremely small on me. Funny story… I have been looking for nautical looking outfits to shoot my latest splurge or steal for my column in Austin Woman Magazine and remember I had a classic pair of seersucker pants I got at express years and years ago. Totally thought those babies would fit… Man, was I WAY wrong. I could barely pull those things over the butt I thought was a lot smaller than it actually is. Needless to say, those things ended up in the giveaway pile! Now I’m on the hunt for more seersucker pants!
Anyway, back on track now. I could go on all day about how much has changed with my body in the past 10 years. HA! I have a feeling that would be an extremely awful post so I will save everyone the mindless reading. Now that I’ve expressed my love for seersucker let’s get on with why I will be living in this top over the summer.
1. It’s under $60. 2. Seersucker. 3. Super flattering 4. It works with my long torso! 5. The ruffles aren’t extremely overpowering. 6. Cold shoulder tops are just amazing in general. 7. It’s even got bell-sleeves and a peplum bottom! 8. Any color/type of accessories work well with white.
Hence why I am wearing all neutrals. There’s just something about neutrals with white that makes it feel so summery and relaxing. Am I crazy?? That’s probably why I have been wearing this laser cut, faux leather bag and nude Vince Camuto booties with almost every single look I’ve been posting. Obviously those are must-haves too because they are AFFORDABLE!!
