{Raven + Lily}

{Raven + Lily}

Raise your hand if you are a fan of helping empower women in other countries? I want to introduce you to Raven + Lily; an ethical fashion and lifestyle brand created to alleviate poverty among women. Currently, they employ over 1,500 women at fair trade wages to give them access to a safe job, sustainable income, health care, and education. All of their products are made by hand and follow fair trade standards. As of 2016, Raven + Lily employs women in Ethiopia, India, Cambodia, Kenya, Guatemala, the USA, Pakistan, Malaysia, and Haiti. They were even named Best for the World in Community Impact and their clothing is pretty dang cute too!

Each season, Raven + Lily creates a lifestyle collection that really reflects each culture of the women who handcraft each piece. For the Fall 2016 collection they took inspiration by Japanese minimalism. The designs are meant to complement and not distract from a women’s natural beauty. Each piece is modern and refined, using sustainable textiles such as alpaca, organic denim, silk/wool blends, mohair and many more. They have also expanded into accessories and home goods; which if you didn’t see my interior shot of their Austin store on Instagram, you need to check it out. Major GOALS!! Each accessory follows their ethical standards and include upcycled horn, brass jewelry, and vegetable tanned leather accessories.

I partnered with Raven + Lily to show everyone that ethical fashion should make an appearance in everyone’s wardrobe, especially if you are a fan of having a capsule wardrobe. Each and every piece in this collection is so unique yet classic enough that you can wear anything with each main garment. And of course, I chose the dress that will literally go with anything and everything; grey.

A couple weeks ago Grayson and I stayed at Lone Star Court and thought it would be the perfect time to pop my head into Raven + Lily at their new store in the Domain Northside. Immediately, I was smitten with everything in the store and knew it was going to be a major challenge to just stick with one look! I decided to go with a grey long sleeve, silk shirt dress that would be easy to pair with anything in my closet; shoes, jewelry, coats, bags, etc. As a stylist, even working with personal clients, I always stress the importance of keeping key pieces that you can make 10+ outfits with without thinking twice. This dress is definitely one of those pieces. It’s a great transitional piece since the Austin weather is in the 60s in the morning and 90+ in the afternoon. Once the weather gets a little chillier, I will easily be able to throw on tights and OTKs and be good to go!

As I mentioned above, Raven + Lily has branched out into accessories and home goods and I couldn’t be more excited. I absolutely fell in love with the cutest black leather lunch-sack clutch that was designed by my good friend Kim Lewis and produced in Ethiopia. Again, this is a piece that will go with anything and everything, dressy or casual.

Let’s talk jewelry. The store is filled with gorgeous, hand crafted pieces that I literally wanted all of! I chose the prettiest Horn + Brass necklace and the simplest brass bangles. The necklace was handcrafted in Kenya and is made of upcycled brass and horn, and literally made the entire outfit. When I look at these photos my eyes immediately go to this necklace. Not only is the prettiest thing ever, but the detail is out of this world!

The one thing I love about looking at pieces that are handmade all over the world is that when you really think about it, each and every piece is handmade which makes them one of a kind. No two pieces will ever be the same. How cool is that??
