{How to Layer on a Budget with Nordstrom}

Anyone who lives in the south knows that layering is a must when “winter” hits. How are we supposed to dress cute when the high is going to be in the 80s all week with a low in the 40s?? Even for me, it is a daily struggle trying to figure out what exactly to wear when our weather is all over the place. I’ve partnered with Nordstrom today to show you all how we can easily look stylish and put together when the weather is all over the place!

Being in Texas 30 years of my life, I’ve definitely figured out the best way to strategically layer without breaking the bank. In the past, I would stock up on summer and winter clothing because it would essentially be lasting me all year long. At that point, I was left with so many clothes that weren’t worn; more of them heavy winter wear. This is the first winter that I’ve actually tried to plan out an easy capsule wardrobe of affordable basics that will easily transition to warmer weather each day.

As most of you have noticed, my go-to look this “winter” would have to be a tank, a cozy cardigan, skinny jeans and boots or heels of some kind. Why? Because it’s easy and honestly, you really can’t tell if these looks are super high end or extremely affordable. That’s why I love it! You can literally look put together without spending a fortune. This entire look was under $500, including the boots and the handbag and these are pieces I have easily been able to mix and match with other looks throughout the season.

If you’re in the same predicament and aren’t too sure of how to layer without wearing too much or too little I have added a few scrollers of some of my favorite, affordable and higher end pieces that can easily be layered for the bi-polar weather.

Let’s start with an essential – Cardigans

Leather Jacket

Tanks

Skinny Jeans

OTK Boots

Heels

    This is definitely the best way to dress for a southern winter. I might be in the “northern” part of the south (Virginia), but we have definitely been experiencing a bizarre few months with snow at the beginning of the week, and 70° weather by the end! It’s hard to know what to wear, but these layers are perfect – I especially love the detailing withe strappy bralette!

    Yes, girl! Texas winters are so unpredictable, so a tank and cozy cardigan is always the way to go! PS – you look like a total stunner, per usual. xo

    This is so good babe! FL calls for this sort of dressing as well. After living up north for my whole life it’s been a sartorial challenge to look “wintery” and NOT sweat to death! Hugs, Kait

    I love this look! It is so simple but chic! Layering is a must here in Southern California as well, as it can be hot as hell during the day and chilly at night!

    omg! I totally agree with you. I leave in Dallas and I can sooooo relate to the bi-polar weather. lol. I can also relate to stocking up my closet for the summer and winter, and having a lot of unworn clothes. Shopping strategically is what I am working on. I love your website 🙂 and it inspires me because i have always wanted to be a fashion blogger as well as a wardrobe stylist, but I am too scared to take the first step. I hope I can overcome that this year. Love the outfit by the way…. 🙂 xoxo
