{A Country Wedding}

{A Country Wedding}

Let me be honest… This isn’t my first go around. The first time I got married, I had a very traditional wedding. I invited lots of people, spent WAY too much money and in the end, it really wasn’t what I had envisioned for my dream wedding. So this time around, I wanted to do it exactly how I wanted it in the first place, ELOPEMENT!

king-florist-bouquetWhen Grayson and I got engaged we both knew we didn’t want to spend much money on a wedding but rather on buying a home, saving, traveling, etc. And that’s exactly what we have been doing. So when our one year engagement anniversary came and went, we quickly realized we should probably stop being so lax about getting married and actually get something planned! We knew we wanted something small so we settled for a quick elopement in the Texas Hill Country with a guest list of just 8 people; all close family members! Can I just tell you how amazing having something so small was? It was the most perfect wedding and I couldn’t have envisioned it going any better.

A few months prior to the wedding I had a shoot at the coolest venue in Dripping Springs; the Prospect House.  The first time I laid eyes on the place I knew this was going to be THE venue. Designed by a New York architect, now based in Dripping Springs, this venue really spoke to me. I don’t know if it was the beautiful interior or the steal frame outside, but either way, I knew it would be a perfect space for our small nuptials.

Once we found the venue, planning the rest of this small ceremony was no easy task! We had to figure out rings, the rehearsal dinner, flowers, a DRESS and the honeymoon!! And we had less than a month to get everything organized and put together.

One of my most important goals was to find a great florist. I am so clueless with flowers but I knew I wanted to work with King Florist. Their custom floral arrangements are out of this world and I was confident they would create something perfect for our big day. And did they ever! I scheduled a consultation with Lynsey and literally had absolutely no clue what I was even wanting. I showed her a few random Instagram photos with flowers that I thought might match my theme of very neutral in hopes they would know exactly what I was thinking. Over the next few weeks we ran ideas back and forth until I picked everything up the day before the wedding. The first moment I saw my bouquet was one of my favorite and most memorable. It’s like they knew exactly what I was wanting and made it come to life in the most beautiful bouquet I had ever seen. Even Steven had his own boutonnière. I wanted this time to be special for all 8 of our guests so I had boutonnières made for all of the men and herb bouquets for the ladies.

Next step was figuring out the ring situation. You would think this would be pretty easy picking out simple bands for each of us but there were so many choices! We decided to go with Limbo Jewelry because the owners, Edson and Anne, are some great friends of ours and we knew we would be in good hands. We scheduled a time to go over everything and quickly chose a simple diamond band for me and a brushed titanium band for Grayson. Within 2 weeks they were all done and absolutely perfect!!

My dress was a whole different story. I had one type of dress is mind and I couldn’t find it anywhere!! I knew that I wanted simple, affordable and something that I could wear over and over again. Obviously it had to be white, but light weight since it was the heat of the summer in Texas and we were potentially getting married outside!! I also wanted a high-low dress, like adamant that I needed that type of dress. After days and days of searching, I found the most gorgeous dress that was under $300 and I’ve already worn it again!

And after everything was, for the most part, planned out we realized we should probably find someone to marry us! We weren’t getting married in a church so we had to find a regular officiant but we also wanted someone we both knew and felt comfortable with. After asking if anyone we knew was an officiant, we came up empty handed. Then, I had an idea! Who do we both like and trust to get the job done?? NIKI!!! Niki is the creative director for Austin Woman Magazine and we had become really close over the past few years. So if anyone was going to do it, it would be her. I texted her to see if she would be interested in marrying us and without anytime wasted she became officiated just for us!! Now that’s a good friend!!

The day before the wedding, my parents came in from California and Dallas and we treated everyone to manis and pedis from my favorite nail salon in Austin, Lacquer! If you’re ever in the downtown Austin area, go check them out and tell Carla hello! That night we had the most gorgeous rehearsal dinner out at Sage Hill Inn. If you didn’t see the blog post I did on the stunning property, check it out and you’ll see why we went back! We had a private dinner in the library with a custom menu filled with some amazing choices! I don’t think there was an empty plate that evening and our parents are still raving about how tasty it was!

Our wedding day finally arrived! I decided last minute I wanted to get my make-up done and thankfully Jessi came to the rescue at 5am!! The ceremony was at 10am and there was so much to get done before then, including my bridals! The drive alone took 45 minutes to get out to Prospect House! Once my make-up was done, I packed up everything I needed and headed out to the venue by myself. Funny enough, I was the only one at the venue that morning setting everything up. It was such a perfect moment to really reflect on what was about to happen and relax a little bit before we started shooting my bridals. Andrew, the best wedding photog in Austin who also shot my first wedding, showed up a little after me to get set up for my bridals. We were on a quick schedule since Grayson was headed out there around 9am with our best man, Steven!

9:30am rolls around and everyone starts showing up. All 8 people. I’m putting on finishing touches and getting ready in my suite, preparing for the best day of my life! Becoming Mrs. Goff! It was amazing because we literally had the entire place to ourselves on that gorgeous Monday morning!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who made my day so special!
