{Spring Stripes}

As most of you know, I am a sucker for amazing boots and will literally wear them when it’s blazing hot during our Texas summers. I’ve actually been on a boot frenzy lately and stocked up on quite a few pairs from Texas Boot Company! Born and raised in the Texas country, you would presume I owned a ton of cowboy boots, but sadly, I JUST bought my very first pair!! That post will be coming soon enough! Anyway, if you’re in Texas head to Bastrop and follow the smell of leather until you get to the Big Boot on Highway 71!  Tell them DTK Austin sent you!

And ladies, if you’re not familiar with Mint Clothing Company, check out Jessica’s site. Her goal was to make pieces that people would never want to take off and you can literally feel that with each item from her line. They are beyond comfy and soft!! My latest purchase from Mint is the fun and flirty striped dress, shown below. I sported it on my last day of SXSW and people couldn’t stop raving about how soft it was and the amazing button back detail! Check it out for yourselves! 🙂

These lovely photos were taken on a whim while we had a break on our Lyft project.  I’d say they came out pretty dang well for being shot in literally 5 minutes!!!

{Lyft} SXSW

As most of my long time followers know, not only am I a fashion blogger as of the past 9 months but have been a freelance commercial advertising wardrobe stylist for 5 + years.  SXSW is normally a time I pack everything up and head out of town for some R&R until an amazing job comes along.  I rarely post any of my wardrobe styling work since it doesn’t really tie in to fashion blogging, but this was too good not to share.

Lyft contacted me on my birthday to help out with, what I thought, was a campaign photoshoot during SXSW. Little did I know it was even COOLER!! They were planning an “activation” called Magic Mode since Lyft is the official rideshare partner of SXSW 2015.  And man, did they go all out!

9 drivers, 9 cars.

Let me rephrase that – 9 drivers in full costume to go along with the 9 vintage + modern day sports cars.  I’ve had quite a few friends already posting and texting that they were in some of the Magic Mode cars!  This “activation” ran from Friday – Sunday to kick of SXSW.

Our awesome photog, Max Morse, snapped some of the character shots below before the drivers went out for the first day of driving.  Like I said on my Instagram, this has definitely been the BEST project I have ever worked on in my years of wardrobe styling.  The Lyft team is AMAZING and gave me full creative freedom on these costumes, and I have to say, they came out pretty dead on! Even the passengers commented on how accurate they looked compared to their cars. Gotta love hearing that! 🙂

Check out some of these shots and let me know if you rode with any of the drivers!!

{SXSW Three Ways}

It’s finally here! SXSW… the long awaited Austin music festival that either makes you want to gouge your eyes out and leave town or makes you jump for joy! I feel as though I am in the middle of this group; tolerant.  I hate the traffic but I love great events with new people.

I have shown a few SXSW inspiration outfits to keep you stylish and comfy from my latest shoot with Austin Woman Magazine. And if you’re in Austin, go grab you a copy!!

First things first… Comfort is key! All of the looks below I would personally wear all day, especially walking around. Layers are a MUST!  Who knows what this crazy Texas weather is going to do, so I always wear a light jacket that can easily be stored away in a tote or backpack.  Comfortable shoes… the next must have on my list! You will be in terrible PAIN if you wear uncomfortable shoes during SXSW. All of that walking and standing is a killer on your feet. I suggest wearing something that you wouldn’t mind walking around in for 12 hours straight.  That should narrow the list down significantly!
