Finding the right wall art for a large living space is such a challenge. Trust me, I have been trying to find the perfect art for my mantle for what seems like 2 years. I started renovating my house right when I closed and the mantle was one of the first things to go. It wasn’t until earlier this year that my dad and I built a mantle to fit the space perfectly. That meant it was time to find a piece of art worth of such a fine mantle! 🙂 I started browsing the Minted site in search of something perfect for the holidays. The ceiling height was so high I wasn’t sure what was going to look best so I was put in contact with an amazing art stylist. They made it extremely easy to know exactly what will fit the space the best. She even sent over renderings to show how the space would look with the actual art work in place.
Most of y’all know renovating houses is in my blood. I went to school for Architecture solely because I grew up renovating and building homes with my dad so the always having to be re-doing something bug is a part of me now. I purchased my first home back in May of 2015 and it was a complete gut job. I think the only person who thought that house was perfect the way it was is my hippie husband. He loved the popcorn ceilings and WALLS… yes, walls… and the 2 inch thick Spanish tile covering the floors. I mean, they had even put parquet flooring on the walls… Anyway, the house was a total gut job straight out of the 70s. As I’m writing this I realized I never did a before and after of my entire house remodel. When my house is actually finished, clean and organized I will get that post up!
Who else is still shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale before everything goes out of stock?? Is it just me?? I feel like I find new goodies every single day; whether it be in clothing, beauty, shoes or home! Speaking of home decor… that has to be the one category I ALWAYS forget to browse and I don’t know why! I feel like I’m always so focused on cute clothes and shoes that I forget about everything else! I did shop for men’s today though, so keep an eye out for that post! Today was the first day I browsed home goods on sale and found WAY too much stuff I need and it all seemed to be to revamp my bedroom. I did find these awesome lawn chairs to take to the ranch that Grayson said we just have to have!
The holidays are right around the corner and if you’re like me, gift giving is a quite the challenge for some of my friends and family. As I’m getting older I realize that in this house, less is more! Most of you know, I purchased a home a little over a year ago, totally gutted it and started a massive renovation. For the most part, the renovation is done but it made me realize that I want absolutely 0 clutter in this house, so when the holidays come around I tell people to save their money and give us gift cards or something we can specifically use! Or you know, a good trip always works too!
Welcome to the very first look into my newly renovated house in Austin, TX! I am so excited to have partnered with Joss & Main to design one of my bedrooms to show off to all of my lovely friends, family and readers! Before you scroll down to see the finished project, I want to give everyone a little backstory on this house.
